Sculptural Unifleur / Stem Vase in European glass c. 1960-70

A mold-pressed clear glass soliflore of irregular, stepped block form, produced in Europe during the 1960s or 70s. The silhouette is distinctly non-rectangular a stepped protrusion on the upper left and an angled recess on the lower right give the piece an asymmetric, almost architectural character, somewhere between a totem and an abstract relief.

The ice-textured surface runs throughout, and a narrow central stem slot descends from the top to receive one or several stems. The glass is dense and heavy at 1.1 kg / 2.43 lbs relative to its scale.

Condition is very good. Dimensions: H 15 W 9 D 4 cm (5.9 3.5 1.6 in).

The irregular outline makes it as effective as a standalone sculptural object as it is a vessel best placed against a plain background where its stepped profile can be fully read.
